I saw The Hex exactly once -- at the previously mentioned, ill fated The Den, which I believe still exists in the basement of Two Boots on Avenue A.
They were having audio trouble, so somehow I found myself running the soundboard at a show for what was the first time in my life. I had some experience as I was a video editor at the time and used a somewhat smaller board at work everyday, but I had never run live sound for anyone before. Luckily, it was a pretty small space, and thus I didn't need to do too much besides make sure the vocals were audible but not so loud that they would feedback. I was pretty successful in that venture, and I believe I purchased myself a beer or two to celebrate.
I remember the days when almost all the shows happened in Manhattan. There were definitely some rad times, but I will admit that I prefer to keep it local. I wonder if I would ever move to Manhattan, should I say strike it rich or something.
I suppose that is another one of those bridges that I will burn when I get to it.
Ladies and gentlemen, for your listening pleasure, The Hex.
