The opening line of the original intro to "Too Fast For Love" says "When you're young and crazy, life goes on." Those lyrics - those words right there - sort of sum up the whole moment. We were young and we were out of our minds. We just lived from one moment to the next and really didn't look too far into the future, because none of us really believed in the future... The music on that album is spontaneous, raw and ratty. It's punk rock, power-pop, it's pissed off and it's romantic in that it romanticizes the things in life that were dear to us: alcohol, drugs, cars, staying up all night - and no future....
That album is the essence of "right now." Right here. Right where we stand. Right in this studio. Right in this moment with this drink in my hand. This fist is what it's all about. It's about the switch blade in my pocket. It's about the bundle of cocaine in the boot. It's about the night before when you didn't sleep and you had to boil your guitar strings on some chick's stove so you could go to the studio and record because you couldn't afford bass strings...
It was a magical moment that I think every band has.
