Young Ginns

I remember when Lance first brought these into Epicenter. I couldn't understand why he would put out a CD for a band that had long broken up and only had one record out that probably not a ton of people ever listened to. I hadn't listened to it, at any rate.

Now I understand.

I debated including the single as well but you don't need a scratchier version of the same songs. They aren't different versions or anything.

Ladies and gentlemen, for your listening pleasure, Young Ginns.

Glasscraft

Please note that the uncredited blurry band photo on the cover was taken by yours truly. I was the only sober one and thus found myself driving their van down the streets of San Francisco and being inexperienced with such things accidentally hit the SF Weekly dispenser.

I was then forced to take a picture to document my poor driving.

Ladies and gentlemen, for your listening pleasure, an EP by Glasscraft.

Kodiak

I recently picked up the single and was totally floored by it. I was going to post it that day I loved it so much.

Then I did a little research and discovered that they also had an LP. So I figured I would wait until I had it in my (somewhat) grubby little hands to share it so everyone would get a little more bang for their buck.

It is true that I am now buying records specifically to put up here. This unfortunately means that my wallet is starting to get a bit lighter. Luckily I am in talks with some old bands and labels to get copies of their records (or cassingles!) for free to share with the world. You'd think I have enough records as it is, but then you'd be wrong.

The moral of the story is that the LP is not nearly as good as the single. Oh well.

Telegraph Melts

I swear I saw this band once but for the life of me I cannot recall the details. I am pretty sure it was in San Francisco. If you were there with me and remember the details, please let me know.

The b side of this record is amazing.

Tight Bros From Way Back When

This was a pretty fun band to see, but I didn't imagine the home listening experience to be comparable. As a result I never purchased their LPs.

I will tell you what though, these singles totally rule. I am psyched that you can listen to them now too.

Mates Of State

I have a long history with Mates of State. My first encounter with them was playing with them in San Francisco. They played last and for some reason most of the people had left by the time they went on. Their loss. They were fantastic.

A few years later a different band played with them in New York. Fun fun fun!

I started running into Jason and Kori in the city after they moved to Connecticut. For some reason I usually find myself doing shots with Jason when our paths cross (the reason is probably that we both like to drink alcohol).

I remember listening extensively to a cassette dub of a promo copy of Our Constant Concern after being dumped some years ago.

The Filmcast

I picked this record up years ago because it looked kind of cool. This has long been a hit or miss prospect, but I do believe that a lot of times you can actually judge a book by its cover.

This record rules! Chalk another one up in the hit column!

It does actually sound pretty much what you think it sounds like. Just look at that font!

Ne'er Do Wells

This is another repurchase. When I was 19 or so I decided that I was done with compact discs. I figured a good way to kickstart my newly discovered (it was only a matter of time, really) vinyl fetishism was to sell all of my CDs. I wish I could recall what I acquired with all that store credit at Amoeba.

This may or may not have been a casualty of that sell off.

You'll get the other half of this later. Patience is a virtue.
